So week two was in Turks & Caicos. I’ll be honest, it was a letdown after having been on Rapa Nui.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The island is nice, I stayed at a very low cost hotel The Lodgings<\/a> (Expedia roulette<\/em>) by the airport. It was really a nice place, quiet, friendly and not in the tourist area. I was able to walk to Five Cays beach and Turk’s Head Brewery<\/a>. I sampled a lot of beer & margaritas, I was out cold by 6pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Five Cays Beach<\/a> was walkable, but you may not want to. The beach is better than Grace Bay in a lot of ways. It was pretty much deserted, I saw some people riding horses, and a couple locals, but that’s it. There was loads of Sargassum seaweed on this side of the island but also wildlife, fish, crustaceans & lots of Conch shells for the taking. At the other end of the beach, about a kilometer or so, is a couple of restaurant\/bars. Not bad and have beer – yes and tacos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grace Bay was a shuttle ride, into the tourist part of town. It’s kinda like Vegas, superficial hotels, celebrity chef restaurants, upscale shopping and overpriced trinkets. The beach is groomed, guards protect the hotel loungers & umbrellas from the non hotel guests … The beach is nice, the water was incredibly warm, like 28 degrees, and there were some sights<\/em> …<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enough of that, diving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I booked a dive trip with Dive Provo<\/a>, great staff, nice boat, good spots. T.J, M.J. & Reagan were the Captain & divemaster’s. Took the group out to West Caicos Island<\/a> to dive The Gully & Yankee Town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s Wall diving, about 65′ feet then dropping off to 7000′ in some places. It was pretty good, saw lots of fish, coral, a monster crab and a Caribbean Reef Shark. Apparently some people saw a Ray as well, I missed that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I took my SeaLife Sport Diver phone housing<\/a> to capture some images and video. Worked quite well. Look at all the dive pictures<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
